- Melt butter, then mix with the flour, sesame seeds and salt.
- Press into a greased pie dish.
- Bake (without filling) at 200˚C for 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven and set aside.
- Mash pilchards with leeks or onions, mustard powder, mixed herbs, lemon juice, mayonnaise and one egg.
- Spoon into pie crust and top with grated cheese.
- Mix cream or milk with remaining egg and pour over the filling.
- Bake at 180˚C for 25 minutes or until set.
- Serve with a side salad.
